Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah believes the Black Stars are within touching distance of securing their spot at the 2026 FIFA World five points.

This resounding victory, coupled with their earlier win against Chad in Accra, has given Ghana a perfect window.

The two wins from two World Cup qualifiers, has set the West African giants up nicely for the remaining qualifying matches.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with 3Sports, the Vice Chairman of the Black Star Committee assured Ghanaians that,  the Black Stars are tantalizingly close to securing their spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“With the win yesterday, yes we are almost there. Because when you look at points and the matches that we have and the performance that our boys have shown, yes we are almost there.”

Appiah’s assertion that Ghana is “almost there” is backed up by the team’s impressive performance in the qualifiers.

With 15 points from their qualifying matches, Ghana now sits lonely at the top of Group I, a full five points clear of their nearest challengers.

As they look ahead to the next round of qualifying matches in September, the Black Stars will be aiming to maintain their momentum and edge closer to securing their fifth World Cup appearance.
