Chelsea are actively considering Enzo Maresca of Leicester City and Roberto De Zerbi as potential candidates for their next managerial appointment, with Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna now out of contention.
Reports from London indicate that Chelsea’s interest in McKenna, who was once a top candidate to replace Mauricio Pochettino, has waned.
McKenna is however, being considered by Brighton and Manchester United, where he previously served as an assistant coach, should United part ways with Erik ten Hag despite their recent FA Cup triumph.
Roberto De Zerbi, who recently left Brighton, and Enzo Maresca, currently managing Leicester City, have both expressed interest in moving to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are keen to finalise their managerial appointment within the next week, though negotiations will hinge on agreeing on compensation fees.

McKenna, who was a frontrunner to succeed Pochettino after his mutual departure from Chelsea last week, is now set to remain with Ipswich. Ipswich Town are expected to offer McKenna a new contract, although he is reportedly unlikely to renew his current deal, which runs until 2027. Any club seeking his services would need to pay at least £4 million in compensation.
Brentford’s Thomas Frank is also in contention for the Chelsea job and has been linked with Manchester United as well. However, the nature of Chelsea’s discussions with Frank remains unclear.
Chelsea aim to secure a new manager quickly to prepare for the upcoming season. Despite a challenging start to the season, former manager Mauricio Pochettino managed to lead the team to a sixth-place finish, securing a European spot. The club’s search for a new manager is crucial to build on this achievement and ensure a strong campaign next season.
