Ghana’s Chief Director of Sports arrives in Paris for Paralympic pre-registration meeting

Mr. William Katey, Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, arrived in Paris on Monday, June 17, 2024, ahead of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games pre-delegation registration meeting.

Accompanied by Ghana’s Chef de Mission, Mr Henry Kwaku Nyanteh Larbi, the duo will participate in the Pre-DRM on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Paris 2024 Games Village.

The team will also meet with the Paris 2024 National Committees Services and Relations Team and familiarize themselves with strategic Games management systems and services.

Upon arrival, Mr. Katey visited Ghana’s Paralympic Team, including Para Athletics and Wheelchair Tennis athletes, at their training camp in Gennevilliers.

He praised the Para Athletics Team for their performance at the Handisport Open Paris 2024 Grand Prix and commended Zinabu Issah for qualifying for the Paralympic Games.

Mr. Katey assured the athletes of continued support from the Ministry and encouraged them to utilize both the Gennevilliers training facilities and the Borteyman sports stadium in Ghana.

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will take place from August 28 to September 8, 2024, with Ghana expected to present athletes in multiple disciplines including Para Athletics, Powerlifting, Taekwondo, Wheelchair Tennis, and Cycling.
