England have advanced to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, thanks to a stunning comeback led by the sheer brilliance of Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane against Slovakia on Sunday.
Despite high expectations and a much-anticipated lineup change featuring Kobbie Mainoo replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield, Southgate’s men initially struggled to impress.
Slovakia took the lead in the 25th minute with a fantastic team goal. Ivan Schranz was set free in the area by David Strelec and finished with a lovely strike into the bottom left corner.
The Three Lions pressed hard, creating several opportunities. Phil Foden thought he had equalized in the 50th minute after finishing off a pass from Kieran Trippier, but the goal was ruled offside.

The equalizer finally came in injury time when Jude Bellingham connected perfectly with the ball in the box, scoring with a wonderful scissor kick to draw level.
In the first minute of extra time, Harry Kane headed England into the lead from inside the six-yard area after a precise assist by Ivan Toney. The comeback looked unlikely just moments before, but they turned it around in dramatic fashion.
England’s incredible turnaround sees them marching on to the quarter-finals, where they will face Switzerland in Dusseldorf on Saturday.
