The upcoming Olympic Games won’t have a bevy of big names competing in some of the flagship competitions in the multisport competition.

In the track events, the defending champions of the 100 Metre, 200 Metre, 400 Metre and 800 Metre Women’s competitions won’t be around to compete after failing to qualify to the 2024 Olympic Games.

Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah, who won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the Women’s 100 Metres and 200 Metres events won’t be in Paris after picking up an Achilles injury in the lead up to the Jamaican trials.

Fellow Caribbean sprinter, Shaunae Miller-Uibo of Bahamas, won’t compete in France later this year to defend her 400 Metre gold medal after also picking up an injury.

Reacting to the news of the injury, President of the Bahamas Association of Athletics Associations (BAAA) Drumeco Archer stated,
