The Black Stars will face a familiar opponent in Sudan, now led by former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah. This draw echoes the 2023 Afcon qualifiers, where Otto Addo’s team played against Angola.

Ghana will also confront Niger, their last encounter occurring at the 2013 African Cup of Nations.

The four-time champions aim to secure a top-two finish in the group, ensuring their 11th consecutive Afcon finals appearance.

The qualifiers will begin in September this year, determining the first 24 nations out of the 48 that will participate in Africa’s premier football event.

The Confederation of African Football has scheduled the next edition to commence on December 21, 2025, and conclude on January 18, 2026.

Ivory Coast, the defending champions, clinched the title with a 2-1 win over Nigeria in the 2023 edition.
