Dreams FC head coach Abdul Karim Zito has set his sights on victory as his team prepares to face off against league giants Asante Kotoko on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Tuba Astro Turf.

In a pre-match interview, the coach acknowledged that the current squad is comprised of younger players, many of whom are making their debut in the Ghana Premier League. However, he emphasized that playing on home turf and drawing on past victories over the Porcupine Warriors provide a significant advantage for his side.

“I remember the year the they won the league ( Ghana Premier League),  I still beat them. But I can’t talk about it much this time around because the players I was having at that time are not the same players I’m having. These are younger players trying to come in.  This is the first time they have started playing in the Ghana Premier League . It won’t be easy for us, but since we are playing home, we’ve set our target. Our target is to win.”

Dreams FC, who made a remarkable debut season in the CAF Confederation Cup by reaching the semifinals before being eliminated by Egyptian powerhouses Zamalek, have struggled to replicate that form this season. The Still Believe Boys have accumulated a meagre 12 points from 13 league matches, leaving them second from bottom in the league standings.

Compounding their woes, Dreams FC also holds an unenviable record of having the worst home record in the league. A dismal streak of just one win from six home games.

In stark contrast, Asante Kotoko is steadily regaining their footing in the league. Having suffered four consecutive defeats, the Porcupine Warriors have now strung together two impressive victories, including a crucial win over their arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in the highly anticipated Super Clash.
