Mohammed Adamu Ramadan, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Adenta, remains confident that he will retain his seat in the 2024 general elections, despite the constituency’s history of changing MPs every four years.

Adenta has long been known for its tendency to elect new MPs after each term, with the electorate often opting for fresh faces in search of better representation.

However, Mohammed Adamu Ramadan believes that his track record and ongoing work in the constituency will make him the exception to this trend.

In the 2020 elections, Ramadan won a commanding 63,436 votes (55.89%), a significant lead over his closest rival.

His performance in 2016 was also strong, with 32,588 votes (48.61%), showing a marked improvement over time.

Despite the constituency’s tendency to change MPs, Ramadan’s confidence stems from his consistent efforts to address the needs of the Adenta residents. He highlighted that his “message has sunk with this constituents” and “they have to agree that they can’t continue with changing MPs every four years”.

His opponent, Akosua Asaa Manu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is also optimistic that history would repeat itself, and she would become the constituencies first female MP.
