The Professionals Forum, a pro NDC group has expressed concerns over what they described as a “forceful takeovers and unrest” in some parts of the country.

The latest incident is a violent protest at Bole-Bamboi, President Mahama’s hometown. Aggrieved youths hit the street and destroyed properties to demand the appointment of NDC members from the constituency into national offices.

“The NDC Professionals Forum is deeply concerned about the ongoing forceful takeovers of government offices and institutions by rogue youth masquerading as NDC Youth. These actions are unacceptable and undermine the democratic principles and values that our party stands for,” the Global President of Proforum, Sam Pee Yalley wrote in a press release issued on January 22.

Mr Yalley added that, “We are equally disturbed by the violent protests that erupted in Bole-Bamboi and Ho, where some youthful members of the NDC demanded ministerial appointments for their constituencies. While we understand the enthusiasm and expectations that come with our party’s victory, we condemn the use of violence and intimidation to achieve political goals.”

He therefore urged “all members of the NDC, particularly our youth, to remain calm, law-abiding, and focused on the task of resetting Ghana.

“We also call on the security agencies to take firm action against any individuals or groups that seek to disrupt the peace and stability of our country,” Mr Yalley said.
