[Mobile Reporter Lee Yong-sook] Yeongdong Police Station (Chief Jeong Hong-seon) Life Safety and Traffic Department conducted traffic safety education at the Korean Senior Citizens’ College in Maecheon-ri, Yeongdong-gun on the 17th.

As of 2023, traffic accident deaths among people aged 65 or older in Yeongdong-gun accounted for 50% of all traffic accident deaths in Yeongdong-gun, increasing the importance of preventing traffic safety accidents among the elderly.

On this day, about 60 students from the College of Senior Citizens were given explanations on the status of traffic accidents among senior citizens, prohibition of drunk driving, wearing safety helmets for two-wheeled vehicles, and how to use roundabouts, and listened to various opinions on overall traffic safety and facilities in Yeongdong-gun. To prevent traffic accidents, 60 canes and safety helmets prepared by Yeongdong Police Station were delivered.

Yeongdong Police Station Chief Jeong Hong-seon said, “In order to establish an advanced transportation culture in Yeongdong-gun, the safety of pedestrians must be of utmost importance, and the Yeongdong Police Station will do its best to prevent traffic accidents involving the elderly and pedestrians.”
