A council member, at World Swimming, Farida Iddriss Gindo, has sounded the alarm bells over the mismanagement of the Aquatic Centre at the Borteyman Sports Complex.

The facility was constructed for the Accra 2023 African Games and has since been left in the care of the National Sports Authority.

Farida Iddris, who was speaking on Thursday’s JoySports National Dialogue under the theme of governance, called into question the management of the facility.

“If we don’t take care, all of us will be disappointed. It has been less than a year, but the issue is that the NSA people cannot manage the Aquatic Centre.”

She has therefore called on the Sports Minister Kofi Adams, to ensure the facility is entrusted in the care of competent hands.

“This is a modern, fabricated facility, so we may have to make changes, otherwise it will be in bad shape. We need support for the GSA with our qualified people to manage the facility.”

The JoySports National Dialogue brought together resource persons to deliberate on the future of sports in Ghana.

Sports Minister Kofi Adams was joined by NSA boss Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, president of Ghana Athletics, Bawa Fuseini, founder of the Right to Dream Academy, Tom Vernon, Magnus Rex Danquah, former CAF Deputy General Secretary Tony Baffoe and host of other prominent speakers.
