Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artiste Jah Lead has re-ignited his feud with JMJ in a recent interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz.
He recounted how disregard for the principles of music business caused a rift between him and music producer JMJ over a song for the latter’s ‘Riddim of the Gods’ project.
“I had an issue with JMJ. I still have that issue with him. On my Audiomack, a song I wrote by virtue of him playing the beats, has been blocked, that the rightful owner or the copyright owner of the song has authorised it to be blocked,” he stated.
Jah Lead explained that despite having more streams on his account for the ‘Lonely’ song, JMJ also released the song on his accounts, promoted it, and then reported to YouTube to have Jah Lead’s version blocked.
“After I did my investigations, I got to know he had pitched the work, including his other works on the album, to Boomplay and taken money,” he explained.
When asked if it’s too late to resolve the issue, Jah Lead expressed his frustration with JMJ’s unresponsiveness.
“I think he’s become more egoistic, not responding to communication,” he said.
He therefore issued a stern warning to the music producer: “He should dare not think he’s older than me, coz he’s my age mate. That’s why I’ll talk to him like my age mate. I told him when the time comes I’ll meet him on the street, I’ll beat him mercilessly. I want people to talk about it coz I’ll face him like a man, I’ll beat him.”
In the meantime, Jah Lead has released a new song titled ‘Hand of Jah’, a song that he believes frees him to be himself.
Jah Lead’s ‘Lonely’ is one of the songs featured on JMJ’s ‘Riddim of the Gods’ project which was released in 2020.
