The Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) participated in the Partnership Outdooring Ceremony & Validation Workshop on Greening TVET in Ghana, held at the Airport View Hotel in Accra. The event was organized by GIZ, in collaboration with CTVET and the TVET Service (GTVETS), as part of the Pact for Skills initiative to support the transformation of Ghana’s TVET system. It brought together key stakeholders to validate criteria for greening TVET institutions and to develop guidelines for integrating green skills into TVET curricula.
Representing the Director General of CTVET, Mr. Samuel Thompson, Director of Policy, Planning, Projects, Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PPPRME), delivered a keynote address emphasizing the urgent need to equip Ghana’s workforce with green skills. He reaffirmed CTVET’s commitment to sustainability through structured frameworks, green curricula, and environmentally responsible institutional practices. He also highlighted the critical role of partnerships in fostering green entrepreneurship and innovation within the TVET sector.
The event was attended by key dignitaries, including representatives of CTVET, GTVETS, Jospong Group, the European Union Delegation, GIZ, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In addition, policymakers, industry leaders, and development partners actively contributed to discussions on advancing sustainability in Ghana’s TVET sector.
As Ghana advances its skills agenda, integrating sustainability into TVET is essential to preparing learners for opportunities in renewable energy, waste management, and eco-friendly industries. CTVET remains committed to fostering partnerships that drive innovation and environmental sustainability in technical and vocational education.
