The much-anticipated 3rd edition of the Connect Masquerade Soccer Fiesta, organized by Connect 97.1FM, has concluded with a thrilling finale that saw Road Masters emerge as champions after a dramatic penalty shootout win over SMS Masquerade Group.
The tournament was played within a 3-day period; Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Preliminary stage games were played on Wednesday, Quarterfinal on Thursday and the semis and final on Saturday on the Adiembra and Methodist Park AstroTurf This year’s competition brought together 10 vibrant masquerade groups: Iron Fighters, SMS, Road Masters, USA, Yankee, Oil City, Royals, Odo yɛ fɛw, Freedom and Justice, and Ocean City.
After intense action across both venues, it was Road Masters and SMS who battled it out for the crown.
The final ended in a stalemate, pushing the game into a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. Road Masters kept their cool, clinching the win with a 4-2 victory on penalties.
The event, a celebration of culture and community, was a collaboration between Connect 97.1FM and the Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Hon.

With past winners including Oil City Masquerade and Iron Fighters, this year’s victory adds Road Masters to the growing list of champions in what is fast becoming a flagship cultural sporting event in the Western Region.
