On the 26th, Prime Minister Han Duck-so emphasized that “it is the basic duty of the state to repay the dedication of the military police with the highest courtesy.”

Respected citizens, bereaved families of the Duty Duty Military Police Officers, Today is the first “Day of the Duty Duty Military Police.”

It is very meaningful that we are celebrating this day for the first time since it was designated as a national memorial day here at the Daejeon Memorial Center, where the spirits of the country are laid to rest.

First of all, I bow my head in gratitude for the noble sacrifice of the duty policemen who died in the line of duty while fulfilling their duty to protect the country and the people.

I would like to express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families who have endured great pain after losing their precious family members.

I would also like to express my special gratitude to all those who have worked hard to ensure that the Day of the Duty Soldier and Police is designated as a national commemoration day.

Even at this moment, many young people in the Republic of Korea are dedicating themselves to the front line of homeland defense.

Our peace and security are ensured by the efforts of the soldiers of the Armed Forces, who are carrying out their duties with a heavy sense of responsibility and duty.

Thank you very much for your dedication and hard work.

My fellow citizens,

The Republic of Korea signed an Armistice Agreement in 1953 and stopped the three-year June 25 War, but the confrontation between the North and the South has been going on for more than 70 years.

Until recently, North Korea has threatened peace on the Korean Peninsula and the world with a series of nuclear threats and armed provocations. In this extraordinary security situation, our young people are fulfilling their national defense duties as stipulated in the Constitution in order to defend the country and protect the people.

In the meantime, there have been several types of military service systems, such as compulsory police and compulsory firefighting, operational combat police, constables and guards along with the servicemen of the Armed Forces.

All of them were noble national missions to protect the lives, property, and safety of the people.

However, what is truly heartbreaking is that many young people have lost their lives due to accidents or illnesses in the course of their duties.

The pain of parents who lost their beloved child overnight is incalculable.

Most of them died at an early age without children, and many were saddened that no one would remember them and they would be forgotten.

In response to the earnest wishes of the bereaved families, the government designated the last Friday of April, when the spring sun is at its warmest, as a national memorial day.

It is the fundamental duty of the state to reward the dedication of the duty of the military police with the highest honors.

The Republic of Korea will not forget the young people who loved the country and the people with an extraordinary sense of duty.

The government will remember the green dreams of the youth and do its utmost to create a freer and more peaceful Korea.

Once again, I would like to express my condolences to the bereaved families while praying for the eternal rest of the military police.

I appreciate it.
