Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club striker, Steven Mukwala, says winning the Ghana Premier League Golden Boot is a big motivating factor to get more goals.

He said this in an interview with Kotoko’s media as the team enjoys a three game unbeaten run on the back of enduring a woeful period that had the Kumasi lads lose six in seven league games.

Addressing a handful of issues, Mukwala pinned Kotoko’s mini resurgence on the wise, motivating words from the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II including the turnaround in his performance in front of goal. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Mukwala scored in Kotoko’s 1-1 draw with Medeama and scored in The Porcupine Warriors 2-0 win over Legon Cities to improve his tally to 11 goals and two assists in 25 games.

In his first season, the Uganda international registered 11 goals and five assists in 31 games and after matching last season’s scoring output, Mukwala says he is motivated to win the top goal scoring award.

“As a striker, if you want to see that you are improving, you have to fight and least equal the number you scored last season or go beyond that so we still have five more games to go (in the league) and this gives me the motivation and the belief that at least I see the ultimate goal which is taking the golden boot.”
