0 Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Gas Company Dr. Ben KD Asante, together with Juabenmanhene Nana Otuo Siriboe II, who doubles as the Chairman of the Council of State, has commissioned the Juaben Astro-turf.
Wembley Sports Complex constructed the FIFA-standardized size turf for commissioning on Thursday.
The event was well-attended with traditional leaders of Juaben, DCEs, political party leaders among others.
The Omanhene of Juaben was impressed with the work done by Ghana Gas and the contractor.
According to the Omanhene, sod was cut on March 15, 2023 with a promise of constructing a multipurpose Juaben Astro-turf.
Nana Otuo Siriboe II was pleased with the work and congratulated Ghana Gas for the delivery on their promise to the people of Juaben.
“My people are very happy to see this dream materializing since we thought this will never happen.”
“Even for Ghana Gas sometimes it’s difficult but they managed to construct this turf and they ought to be commended. Dr. Ben Asante was determined and told them to do the work while awaiting the board approval,” he revealed.
He further told the gathering that they will ensure that work on the rest of the project is seen through to the benefit of the community.
The Omanhene thanked his people for the patience and the trust and assured them that the project was done for the youth to be able to develop their God-given talents.
“Our children, the young and youth are the reason why this Astro-turf was constructed. We want to make sure their God-given talents will be developed. Somebody can become a Maradona and come from Juaben. We can have the likes of Michael Essien, Didier Drogba among others, so this turf will be a place of transformation to showcase your talents.
“I would be so so grateful to see a world class footballer who hits the limelight and they will say he is from Juaben. In today’s world, it is not only education that will take you forward but sports, word spoken, speech, songs and among others.”
Omanhene Otuo Siriboe II assured the youth that once he lives, anything that he can do to help them develop their God-given talents, he will pursue and that the youth should move away from bad traits and certain acts that will be detrimental to society.
Dr Ben KD Asante noted that Ghana Gas processes and transports gas for power generation and many more.
But he indicated that the company has other visions that include business, personnel, community development, and many others.
The company, he stressed, also contributes to healthcare, education, sports, water, and sanitation.
“Sports is the reason why we have gathered here today, which is an astro-turf beautifully done by Wembley Sports Complex.
“Nana, I would plead that this sports facility constructed is not only for just entertainment and physical well-being but rather we’ll use this astro-turf for communal well-being or cohesion.”
The CEO is of the view that besides entertainment and physical well-being, the facility will bring everybody together to form communal cohesion.
