Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu says Ghana has a tough task when they take on Mali in their crucial World Cup qualifier in Bamako on June 6, 2024.

Salisu was one of the names called by Otto Addo in Ghana’s 26-man list for the World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic and has insisted on the need for the Black Stars to be adequately prepared for the task ahead.

Speaking to the press after the Black Stars’ first training session at the Legon Stadium, Salisu emphasised on how crucial Ghana’s readiness would play a part in the result away from home, indicating Mali as a strong opponent in African football.

“We know it’s not gonna be easy with Mali, they have a strong team, and I think we need to prepare well for this game,” he said.

Mohammed Salisu apologises to media, Ghanaians following altercation in Ivory Coast

The 25-year-old reflected on his past injury issues but believed in getting back to his best level for his nation ahead of the crucial qualifiers.

“I had an injury problem a few months ago but I’m back and I’m in a good shape and we know how these two games means for Ghanaians and from the callup we have really young players and a good team”

The Black Stars have no win in 2024. However the team looks in good shape after the first training session, and a good result against Mali could be a stepping stone moving forward under Otto Addo.
