Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed how the Champions League competition has brought happiness into his life.

Ancelotti won his fifth Champions League trophy as a manager when Real Madrid beat Dortmund in the final on Saturday night at Wembley.

The feat means he’s the only manager to win the Champions League on five occasions with his closest competitors Pep Guardiola, Bob Paisley and Zinédine Zidane having won it three times.

The Italian is also among only six coaches to win the trophy with multiple teams, and having played with Italian giants AC Milan, he is one of just seven who have won as both player and coach.

After the game, Ancelotti was quick to point out how the competition has brought him excitement both as a player and a manager.

“I try to do my best, think this competition gave to me fantastic happiness as a player, as a manager and my target is to try to repeat the same emotion that we had the week after this game and so this is the target,” he said.

Goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior ensured Madrid on Saturday night won their 15th Champions League trophy, putting across why they are the competition’s most successful team.
