Arsenal’s hopes of advancing in the Champions League face uncertainty following a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the quarter-finals at Emirates Stadium.

Despite a tense atmosphere fueled by the return of Tottenham’s record goalscorer Harry Kane, Arsenal took an early lead with Bukayo Saka’s clinical finish just 12 minutes into the game.

Bayern responded swiftly, as former Gunner Serge Gnabry levelled the scoreline six minutes later, capitalizing on defensive lapses.

Kane made his mark by converting a penalty awarded after William Saliba brought down Leroy Sane, marking his 15th goal against Arsenal and quieting the home crowd.

Mikel Arteta’s side struggled to find their rhythm, but substitute Leandro Trossard capitalized on Gabriel Jesus’ impressive play to restore parity.

In a tense finale, Arsenal’s appeal for a late penalty were dismissed when Saka went down under a challenge from goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

The tie remains evenly poised ahead of the second leg in Munich on April 17th.
