South African singer Tyla won the Best New Artist award at the BET Awards 2024, which marks a huge accomplishment for her rising career.

The young singer has gained a lot of popularity and captured the attention of people all over the world because of her infectious pop melodies and vibrant energy.

Her first single, “Water,” which featured her captivating hooks and performance style went on to become an enormous hit.

Tyla is unique in the music industry thanks to her fusion of pop, R&B, and Afrobeat components.

In her acceptance speech, Tyla expressed gratitude to her fans, family, and the BET community.

“Oh my gosh this crazy, this is also very heavy again. First of all, I love Sexyy Red. I love her so much,” she began.

“This is such a gift to be here. I want to dedicate this one to Africa. I want to dedicate this to all the African superstars before me that didn’t get these opportunities that I’m getting. This is just amazing. Africa to the world guys,” Tyla said as reported by the BET.com.

Tyla’s recognition as the Best New Artist highlights both the extraordinary talent and international popularity of her songs.

Her self-titled debut album, Tyla, which was released in March 2024, showcases Tyla’s unique blend of Afrobeat, R&B, and pop, creating a fresh and vibrant sound that captivates listeners.

Earlier on the Awards night, the singer received the “Best International Act” award, presented by actor Coleman Domingo.

In February this year, the 22-year-old clinched her first Grammy award with her famous track ‘Water’ which was released in 2023.

She beat competition from Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, Olamide, Ayra Star and Musa Keys to win the inaugural category, the Best African Music Performance at the 66th Grammys.
