Jo Mi-ja (Democratic Party of Korea, Namyangju 3) of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council was a discussant at the ‘2024 1st Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation Policy Debate’ held at the Education 1964 Conference Hall at the Gyeonggi Sangsang Campus of the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation on the 9th. attended.

This policy debate was hosted by the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation and was prepared to form a discourse on the direction and role of the foundation as the largest cultural foundation in the country and to discuss the cooperation system with basic cultural foundations.

The first presenter, Team Leader Kim Jeong-su of the Cheongju Cultural Industry Promotion Foundation, introduced the ‘Made in Cheongju’ system as an example of supporting regional representative content discovery, production, and distribution, and the second presenter, Team Leader Kang Hyun-jo of the Regional Culture Promotion Agency, introduced the government’s regional specialized cultural content. As an example of discovery and central-regional-public cooperation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s ‘Local 100’ project was introduced. Lastly, Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation team leader Kwon Shin suggested the current status and improvement plan of the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation’s local cultural content development project.

Rep. Cho, who was in charge of discussing the presentation, pointed out, “When a new government or a new representative of an organization comes, there are many cases where projects related to local culture change and become less sustainable,” and added, “We must approach sustainability with responsibility.” “It needs to be done,” he began his remarks.

Representative Cho then emphasized, “It is important to develop the project continuously with the concept of expanding on previous projects and also to enable sustainable interpretation,” and added, “In carrying out local cultural projects, it is important to develop a comprehensive regional big picture.” “It is important to start a business with a plan in mind,” he said.

Lastly, Rep. Cho concluded his remarks by asking, “I hope that the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation will frequently communicate with the Gyeonggi Provincial Council on how and how to proceed in the future during the process of collaboration with the central, regional, and basic cultural foundations.”
