Chelsea’s Brazilian winger Angelo Gabriel has completed a surprise move to the Saudi Pro-League just a year after joining the Blues.
The 19-year-old made headlines after becoming the youngest player to play in the history of the Brazilian top flight at 15 years and 308 days in 2020.
He later secured a move to Chelsea from Santos in the summer of 2023 for a fee of around £13m with many tipping him as a big star in the making following his impressive performances during pre-season under then-manager Mauricio Pochetino.
However, he spent all his time last season on loan with Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg making 24 appearances.
The youngster is now seen as surplus to requirement given the availability of Pedro Neto who joined from Wolves and the in-form Noni Madueke.
Angelo Gabriel joins Al Nassr for a reported fee of £19.1 million, despite the 19-year-old never making a competitive appearance for the Blues.
Chelsea will benefit financially from the sale of Angelo to Al-Nassr, thanks to a sell-on clause, as the player joins forces with superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane.
This transfer marks a crucial step for Chelsea in achieving financial stability, bringing the club closer to breaking even.
