The parliamentary primary of the New Patriotic Party held in the Agona West Constituency of the Central Region on April 13, has been won by Chris Arthur.

He polled 240 out of the total votes cast. His closest contender was Ben Yamoah who garnered 221 votes. The incumbent Member of Parliament for the Area, Cynthia Morrison, has thus lost the opportunity to represent the people of Agona West Constituency in Parliament. She obtained 152 votes.

Here are the full results:

Chris Arthur 240
Eng Yawson Otoo 169
Ben Yamoah 221
Cynthia Morrison 152
Joseph Afankwa 155

Delegates in the Constituency could not take part in the parliamentary primary held in January by the party nationwide due to an injunction applied by one of the aspirants, Joseph Afankwa for his disqualification.

After a three to four months long legal battle, the party slated April, 13 for the primary with Joseph Adankwa taking part in the contest.

About 900 delegates cast their votes in today’s exercise.

The exercise was peaceful and smooth except a few delegates who could not find their names in the album but sorted out later.
