Juvenile court in Accra has ordered the Commander of the CID Division of the Ghana Police Service, headquarters in Accra, to prevent Ms Karen Baaba Sam from travelling out of the country with her four-and-a-half-year-old daughter (name withheld).

The directive follows Ms Sam’s refusal to comply with an earlier order by the court asking her to leave her daughter in the custody of Mr Kwadwo Adjei (the daughter’s father), pending finally determination of a suit brought against her by Mr Adjei.

The court presided by Ms Bernice Mensimah Ackon also ordered the Director General of the Ghana Immigration Service to prevent Ms Sam from travelling out of the country with the girl.

The facts as contain in the statement of case are that on April 3, 2017, Mr Adjei entered into a relationship with Ms Sam and they practically lived together as if they were husband and wife until the birth of their daughter.

However, somewhere in 2021/2022, Mr Adjei, who is the applicant, said he observed a drastic change in Ms Sam’s behaviour,

and also received allegations of amorous relationship.

The statement said Mr Adjei confronted Ms Karen about the allegations but she denied it.

In February 2024, whilst Mr Adjei was out of the country for a medical check-up, Ms Sam called and said she wanted to take the daughter and the niece of her’s to a beach front/resort.

The statement said Mr Adjei transferred GH¢50,000.00 to her for their benefit and use.

However, Ms Sam did not use the money for the intended purpose, but rather for undesirable acts.

When Mr Adjei returned to Ghana, he decided to also “spend time with the children at Big Blue Resort.”

While at the Resort, their daughter (name withheld) identified the place where Ms Sam engaged in indecent acts.

According to the applicant, his daughter confirmed seeing her mother and another man smoking incessantly during their visit at the Resort.

The statement said when Mr Adjei confronted Ms Sam about it, she packed her belongings and left the house leaving the children with him.
