2 hospitals in Upper West Region receive medical equipment worth GHC493k to boost healthcare

Virtue Foundation, a dedicated non-governmental organization (NGO), in its effort to significantly scale up healthcare delivery in Ghana, has donated medical equipment and consumables to the Upper West Regional Hospital alongside the Sissala East Municipal Hospital.

The two separate donations, valued at about GH¢403,000, include an ultrasound machine, an anesthesia Machine, and assorted medical equipment, as well as medical and non-medical consumables.

Mohammed Issa Battaglia, Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala East who doubled as the Country Director for Virtue Foundation, made the donation on behalf of the NGO.

Addressing the media at a short ceremony to hand over the items, he lauded managers of the hospitals for unwavering dedication to improving healthcare services.

“We are confident that the donated equipment will be put to good use, and we are committed to continuing our support for the hospital,” Battaglia stated.

He added, “We believe that quality healthcare is a fundamental human right, and we are dedicated to making that a reality for all Ghanaians.”

The Country Director, who is also a first-time Member of Parliament, expressed optimism that the equipment will be put to good use for the general benefit of every Ghanaian. His words resonated with a sense of hope and determination, reflecting the foundation’s core mission to ensure that healthcare is accessible to all.

Dr. Woodes, the Medical Director of Tumu Municipal Hospital received on behalf of the hospital while Dr Robert Amesiya of the Regional Hospital received the ultrasound and medical consumables on behalf of the Regional Hospital.

Dr Robert Amesiya, the Medical Director of the Upper West Regional Hospital, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the generous contribution.

He stated that the hospital management is heartened by the commitment of Virtue Foundation to addressing the gaps in the hospital.

“We assure them that these items will be put to good use, and we appeal to other benevolent individuals and organizations to support us in our mission to provide quality healthcare to our people.”
