Edward Bawa has officially handed over to the newly appointed CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Kwame Ntow Amoah following his reassignment to GOIL.

President John Dramani Mahama initially appointed Mr Bawa as the CEO of GNPC but reassigned him to GOIL just a few days after the appointment.

Mr Kwame Ntow was subsequently pointed to the GNPC.

In a note of gratitude and a look to the future released on Monday, February 17, Edward Bawa said that “Today, I officially handed over my responsibilities as Acting Chief Executive of GNPC to my esteemed successor, Mr. Kwame Ntow Amoah, as I prepare to assume my new role as Managing Director and Group CEO of GOIL.

“I am profoundly grateful to His Excellency, the President of the Republic, for the trust and opportunity to serve in these critical roles—first at GNPC, though brief, and now at GOIL. It has been an honor to contribute to Ghana’s energy sector, and I deeply appreciate the confidence reposed in me to continue serving in this capacity.”

He further extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Management and dedicated staff of GNPC for their unwavering support, collaboration, and commitment to the corporation’s mission.

“Together, we have navigated challenges, pursued growth, and made meaningful contributions to the sector.

“As I embark on this new journey with GOIL, I look forward to fostering strong partnerships, driving innovation, and contributing to the company’s continued success. The energy industry remains a critical pillar of our national development, and I remain committed to working towards a more sustainable and prosperous future.

“Thank you once again for your support, and I look forward to future collaborations that will further strengthen Ghana’s energy landscape.”
