Nigerian Afrobeats senstaion Ayra Starr and veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo have been announced as the latest casts for the much-anticipated film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel, ‘Children of Blood and Bone’.

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the epic movie features a Hollywood all-star casts including; Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Other prominent stars set to appear in the film include Regina King, Thuso Mbedu as Zélie, Tosin Cole as Tzain, Amandla Stenberg as Princess Amari, and Damson Idris as Prince Inan.

Set in an African mythical kingdom of Orïsha, Children of Blood and Bone follows the journey of Zélie, a young warrior determined to restore her people’s stolen magic after oppression from a wicked king.

Filming is set to take place in South Africa, with the movie expected to hit theaters in early 2027.

Ayra Starr’s involvement as a cast marks a significant milestone in her burgeoning career, transitioning from music to the screens.

In addition to showcasing her versatility as an artiste, Ayra Starr’s involvement in the movie highlights the growing importance of African talent in international film.
