0 Ghana’s growing emphasis on STEM education, robotics, and technical skills is yielding impressive results, with young innovators making their mark on the global stage.
Redeemer Tech, the robotics team from My Redeemer School, has secured a double victory at the AI for Good – Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Ghana Edition, with both its Senior and Junior teams emerging as national champions.
The competition, held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Academic City University, brought together top robotics teams from across the country, showcasing cutting-edge solutions in artificial intelligence and automation.
Organised by The MakersPlace under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations’ AI for Good initiative, the 2025 edition of the challenge focused on disaster response.
Teams were tasked with developing robotic solutions to address real-world emergencies while contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Redeemer Tech outperformed strong competitors, including Adisadel College and Koforidua Secondary Technical School, with AI-powered innovations designed for early disaster detection, search-and-rescue operations, and post-disaster logistics.
Their projects combined technical precision with a strong humanitarian focus, impressing the judges.
Douglas Ayitey, Founder and CEO of The MakersPlace, praised the level of talent on display, stating, “This year’s competition showcased the creativity and skill of students across Ghana. As the National Organiser of the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Ghana Edition, I am truly inspired by the innovative solutions these young minds have developed. We are proud to see young Ghanaians stepping up to solve global challenges with technology.”
As national champions, Redeemer Tech will represent Ghana at the Global Grand Finale of the AI for Good Robotics Challenge, scheduled for May 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland. The international summit will bring together winning teams from around the world to present their solutions and engage with global experts in AI, robotics, and sustainability.
My Redeemer School’s success highlights its commitment to STEM education. With robotics and coding introduced at Grade 1 level five years ago, the school has built a strong foundation in technology and innovation, equipping students with the skills to compete globally.
The 2025 Robotics for Good Challenge was open to students nationwide, emphasising not only technical expertise but also teamwork, creativity, and real-world impact.
