Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, the newly inducted Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tano South in the Ahafo region, has promised to enhance development in his area through teamwork, transparency, and a people-centred approach.

In addition, he has assured his collaboration with key stakeholder institutions, namely traditional leaders, Civil Society Organisations, the media, faith-based organisations, departments and NGOs among others to project the area.

The MCE, in an interview with JoyNews on Thursday in Bechem, on his first day in office, said he will give priority to critical sectors of the municipality, including health, water and sanitation, education, agriculture, and economic empowerment.

Located in the southern part of the region, the municipality covers an area of 489.0 square kilometres with a population of 87,219 according to the 2021 population and housing census. The municipality shares boundaries with several other districts, including Offinso and Ahafo Ano South West to the north and east, and Ahafo Ano North to the south.

It has a youthful population with its economy based on agriculture, particularly the production of industrial crops like cocoa, oil palm, coffee, and cashew.

Mr Kwame Frimpong noted that the President Mahama administration will not renege on its duties and mandate given to it by the people to improve their living conditions. The MCE enjoined residents and natives of the municipality, both local and abroad, to come on board to harness the development potentials of the area, saying, “Together, we can make Tano South great and strong”.

He expressed appreciation to President John Mahama and members of the TNMA for the confidence reposed in him to serve his people, noting, “Tano South is poised for growth. The journey to building growth and prosperity has commenced”.

The Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Augustine Peprah, on behalf of the assembly, pledged to collaborate with the MCE to ensure a smooth and productive tenure, stating that “in unity, we can build”.

He solicited a renewed sense of purpose among the staff of TNMA, residents of the municipality and other stakeholders to create wealth and a better future in the municipality.

Some family members, friends, assembly members, party executives, and a section of the public who accompanied the MCE expressed optimism in his leadership and pledged their full support towards the development of the area.
