Nigerian singer and songwriter, Ink Boy is demanding payment of royalties from rapper Sarkodie for being featured on the song, ‘One million cedis’ on Sarkodie’s ‘Jamz’ album.

Sarkodie released the song ‘One Million Cedis’ in November 2022 which featured the Nigerian singer.

In a series of post on X, Ink Boy claimed that it’s been a year after the song was released and he’s yet to receive royalties from Sarkodie.

He alleged that after reaching out to the rapper’s management severally for his royalties, he has not received any payment yet.

“I made this song and gave it the title one million cedi and all I get now is hate from Sarkodie fans cos I’m not allowed to call him out? As a bigger person is one year not enough time to do what is right? I won’t let this slide give me my royalties,” he stated.

King @sarkodie what you are doing is not good at all. I place high regard on your name but it’s seem you prefer me calling you out and people saying I’m ungrateful. Pls give me my royalties for one million cedi it’s long overdue Haba you be legend o nawa

“Which management? How many times? They all know what they are doing,” he added.

Sarkodie in an interview last year acknowledged Ink Boy’s contribution to the song, stressing that the songwriter birthed the song title.

“There was a young kid in the studio session when I was recording, I didn’t know he was an artiste because he came with a big artiste and he was making melodies to the beat and I said I wanted to hear it and when he came close I was like that’s the hook.

“He said the first one was the shoddy said she wants one million cedis so then that became the title, so big shout outs to Ink Boy for coming up with this one,” Sarkodie said.

Sarkodie’s team is yet to comment on the allegation.

Meanwhile, Ink Boy in an interview with 3Music TV last year disclosed that there was no formal agreement reached regarding his contribution to the track.

He revealed that while there is no written agreement, discussions are ongoing with Sarkodie’s team to sort out the paperwork and hopefully receive what is due him.

“There’s no paper agreement or whatsoever but it’s in the works because I reached out to his team then so we’ve been talking about that so hopefully I get the split sheet soon.”
