0 The National Labour Commission (NLC) has ordered the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) to suspend all planned industrial action, following allegations that the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has failed to comply with a previous directive.
In a statement issue on Wednesday, June 25, the NLC acknowledged receipt of GAUA’s letter dated 25 June and referenced its own earlier directive of 9 June, which required both parties “to engage and report on the outcome of the engagement to the Commission on 9th July, 2025.”
The Commission cautioned GAUA against proceeding with its plans, stating,
“The Union is therefore directed to refrain from any intended action per paragraph 5 of the Union’s letter under reference since parties are scheduled to appear before the Commission on 9th July, 2025 at 11:00 am for reporting.”
Additionally, the NLC instructed GTEC to formally respond to the claim of non-compliance.
“GTEC is hereby directed to formally respond to the issue of non-compliance on/or before close of work on Friday 27th June, 2025 and if otherwise then it should also provide evidence of compliance,” the statement read.
