A SangYong minibus was completely gutted by fire on Monday, June 30, along the Sawla–Wa highway, opposite the Amdaway Fuel Station.
Although firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded swiftly, the vehicle was already engulfed in flames by the time they arrived.
According to an official update from the GNFS, a distress call was received at 14:35 hours, reporting the outbreak.

A crew of skilled firefighters was immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene by 14:38 hours — just three minutes later.

The team managed to extinguish the fire shortly after arrival, preventing further escalation or damage to nearby properties, including the adjacent fuel station.
Regrettably, due to the delay in alerting the fire service, the minibus had already been consumed by the blaze before the crew’s arrival. No casualties were reported.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are underway.
