0 Nigerian artiste Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has sparked new conversations with his assertion that men are naturally not designed to remain sexually faithful to one woman.
Speaking on the latest episode of the 234 Mzansi podcast hosted by Ani Emmanuel, also known as Nedu Wazobia, the 49-year-old artiste argued that male biology makes sexual exclusivity difficult, even in loving relationships.
“I’ve said this before, and I got into trouble for it, but I don’t care to say it again: man was not built to be sexually with just one woman,” he stated.
“A man’s heart, respect, and love can belong to one woman, but sexually, it’s impossible for a man. A man can genuinely love a woman completely but still find it difficult to be with only her sexually,” he added.
He explained that while some men may choose a different path, the average man is driven by natural instincts.
“Some individuals may choose to live differently, but I’m talking about the natural biology of a man,” he said. “A man has many seeds and can’t just drop them for one woman.”
2Baba’s comments come amid renewed interest in his personal life, particularly his past relationship with actress Annie Idibia. While he did not delve into details, he confirmed that their separation was mutual and rooted in emotional disconnection.
“Annie and I had a good bond. She’s an amazing and wonderful person, but it wasn’t working anymore,” he said. “Annie and I gave it our best. The reason we’re no longer together isn’t something I want to start discussing here. We have our understanding, and she is amazing. It just wasn’t working anymore, that’s the simple truth.”
He advised couples to be honest about their challenges and not stay in unhappy marriages due to societal expectations. “If a marriage is not working, the couple should try to fix it, but if it still doesn’t work, I don’t think anyone should be forced to stay,” he said. “Only the couple inside the marriage truly knows what they are going through.”
The multi-award-winning singer also spoke about the women in his life, describing them as “amazing.” He acknowledged the mothers of his children, his ex-wife Annie, and his current partner Natasha Osawaru, highlighting their individual strengths. “Everybody has strength, beauty, and unique qualities, that’s how I see life,” he said. “But people are the ones who create all these unnecessary dramas.”
On his relationship with Natasha, 2Baba said what mattered most to him was emotional safety and connection, not physical appearance. “For me, what matters is having someone I can talk to without fear, someone who won’t get angry unnecessarily, and someone I can laugh with. That’s all. I want someone I can be completely honest with.”
He added that online criticism and public opinion no longer affect him, as his primary focus remains on the wellbeing of his children.
2Baba has had a widely publicised romantic life. He is father to seven children with three different women: Sumbo Ajaba, Pero Adeniyi, and his former wife Annie Idibia.
