(Seoul = Provided by Yonhap News) [ipn News] President Yoon Seok-yeol paid the utmost respect to President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who visited Korea as a state guest on the 28th for a two-day, one-night stay.
The President’s Office reported that President Yoon and his wife, First Lady Kim Kun-hee, visited Changdeokgung Palace along with President Muhammad as part of their first social gathering that day.
President Yoon and Muhammad strengthened their friendship by taking a walk together around the Buyongji area, the central garden of Changdeokgung Palace, and conversing on various topics, including Korean culture.
It is known that the walking course at Changgyeonggung Palace on this day was decided by President Yoon himself, reflecting President Muhammad’s wishes.
When President Yoon paid a state visit to the UAE in January last year, he expressed gratitude to President Muhammad for the hospitality shown to him and asked about his preferred itinerary for his visit to Korea. President Yoon is said to have expressed that he likes taking walks.
Accordingly, President Yoon is said to have personally chosen Changdeokgung Palace, a place where one can take a walk in a quiet atmosphere among old palaces, as a place for a walk for President Muhammad, who is also the President of the UAE and the King of Abu Dhabi.
The two leaders also watched the ‘Hakyeonhwadae dance’, which carries the meaning of welcome. Hakyeonhwadaemu is a traditional court dance that includes Hakmu (Hakchum) and Yeonhwamu (Lotus Dance) that have been handed down since before the Goryeo Dynasty.
The President’s Office said that this performance was prepared to respect and empathize with the culture and customs of the UAE, which loves birds so much that it has a national bird.
After watching the performance, the two leaders chatted over tea and then moved to the Blue House banquet hall and had dinner together.
President Yoon welcomed President Muhammadu’s visit to Korea as a state guest, the first UAE leader to do so, and said, “Through this visit to Korea, let us further develop our ‘special strategic partnership’.”
Accordingly, President Muhammad expressed his gratitude to President Yoon and his wife for their hospitality and expressed his expectations about the schedule and results of this visit to Korea, the President’s Office reported.
It is said that the dinner lasted longer than expected as the social gathering and dinner were held in an intimate and comfortable atmosphere.
Earlier, President Muhammad entered the country through Seoul Airport this morning.
The UAE presidential plane with President Muhammad on board entered Korea’s Air Defense Identification Zone (KADIZ) this morning and arrived escorted by four Korean Air Force fighter jets ‘F-15K’.
This is in return for the UAE fighter planes that flew as escorts during President Yoon’s state visit to the UAE last year.
President Muhammad also met with several figures from the Korean business community and financial investment industry this afternoon.
On the 29th, the schedule will include an official welcome ceremony, summit meeting, agreement and memorandum of understanding signing ceremony, and state luncheon.
The welcoming ceremony will feature a congratulatory flight by the Air Force’s special flight team, the Black Eagles, as well as the traditional honor guard, the Chwita squad, Ark unit officials, and a children’s welcome group.
