[Mobile Reporter Nam Nan-woo] Sejong Special Self-Governing City Mayor Choi Min-ho held the 10th ‘2 Days & 1 Night with the Mayor’ event and communicated with residents.
This event was held for two days from May 31st to June 1st at the senior center in Garak Village Complex 10, Goun-dong, with about 30 residents in attendance.
The 2-day, 1-night event with the mayor is Mayor Choi’s representative communication move to listen to local issues, have informal conversations with residents, and listen to voices from the field. It was held for the 10th time in the 4th term of city administration and the 2nd time this year.

On this day, Mayor Choi Min-ho toured ‘Dohwagil’, a 100 village garden created along Silgaecheon in Goun-dong, with residents.
Peach Road is a participatory garden created by residents themselves, and 250 peach trees have been planted around Silgaecheon, providing citizens with things to see and rest in their daily lives.
Mayor Choi Min-ho said, “It is touching to see residents taking the lead in cultivating the village garden,” and added, “The city will do its best to create Sejong, a beautiful and sustainable garden city based on resident participation.”
In addition, residents of Garak Village Complex 10, Goundong, shared various opinions and ideas they had been considering for local development through conversation.
At this event, residents proposed a plan to revitalize Silgaecheon, which runs through Goun-dong, demolish an abandoned livestock farm located in nearby Janggun-myeon, and expand support for senior center helpers to support leisure activities for seniors.
Mayor Choi expressed sympathy and encouragement by listening to each and every opinion of the residents, and promised to create a beautiful and comfortable resting place by securing water for maintenance in relation to the maintenance of Silgaecheon.
Regarding the demolition of abandoned livestock farms, we communicated continuously with livestock farmers to actively review demolition support measures and conveyed our intention to seek multifaceted support measures so that the senior center can establish itself as a central space for welfare and leisure activities for the elderly.
Mayor Choi Min-ho emphasized, “The true meaning of 2 days and 1 night with the mayor is to run around the region and communicate openly with residents.” He added, “We will continue to actively practice ‘accompanied administration’ to create the future of Sejong with citizens.”
