[Mobile Reporter Nam Nan-woo] Sejong Mayor Choi Min-ho emphasized, “As a member of society and a public official, I need to make an effort to fulfill my responsibility without taking sides for the sake of my family and children.”
Mayor Choi Min-ho attended the June Employee Communication Day held at the City Hall Women’s Room on the 3rd, marking June as Patriots and Veterans Month, remembering the heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the country’s well-being, and emphasizing a responsible attitude as a public official.
Mayor Choi began by asking the question, ‘What are we afraid of?’, a topic we should always think about.
Mayor Choi emphasized, “Depending on what is scary, a person’s usual values, personality, and interests are revealed,” and added, “We all need to think deeply about what we are afraid of.”
At the same time, scholars of the Joseon Dynasty said that they were most afraid of the attention of others, and intellectuals said that they were afraid of being shameless, which he interpreted as an ambivalent reference to the importance of reputation and humility.
Mayor Choi said, “If you do not care about your reputation and have no sense of shame, you will not be ashamed of doing something shameful and you will not be proud of doing something honorable.” “It seems,” he pointed out.
As a result, he emphasized that our society has become a world where taking sides is the priority, without being able to distinguish between right and wrong, and that in a society where such thinking is rampant, members do not fulfill their responsibilities and do not know how to reflect.
Mayor Choi then said, “What scares me is that they don’t fulfill their responsibilities and don’t know that the sky and the future are scary,” and added, “Those in public office in particular must be on their own guard.”
At the same time, he emphasized that the words “future” and “nation,” which we often use as abstract concepts, are synonymous with family and children, and that the kind of world they will live in in the future depends on our choices now.
At the same time, Mayor Choi appealed that in commemoration of Patriots and Veterans Month, it is our responsibility in modern times to honor the sacrificial spirit of our patriotic martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect our freedom and the lives of our families from enemies.
Lastly, Mayor Choi asked, “As we celebrate Patriots and Veterans Month in June, please take the time to think once again of those who have dedicated and sacrificed themselves for our country and think about what we really need to be afraid of.”
Meanwhile, at the June Employee Communication Day, a commendation was given on Environment Day.
