Korea and Nigeria sign memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in medical products

Cooperation to simplify approval procedures for Korean medical products, promotion of education and consultation for regulators and industry

[Mobile Reporter Kim Soo-mi] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety took the Korea-Africa Summit as an opportunity to promote mutual cooperation in the field of medical products between the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the Nigerian Food and Drug Administration. It was announced that a strengthening memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed on the 7th.

This memorandum of understanding was prepared for cooperation and exchange of technical knowledge on medical product safety. 

The two sides decided to promote ▲exchange of information such as laws, regulatory systems, knowledge, and regulatory experience in the medical product field, ▲regular meetings and visit exchanges, ▲regulatory agency and industry education and advice, and ▲cooperation to simplify the approval process for Korean medical products.

Among the joint declarations agreed upon at this summit, cooperation in the health sector in response to global challenges was specified.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety expects that exports to the African region will become more active by signing this memorandum of understanding with Nigeria, a promising market in the health and medical field and a bridgehead for exports to Africa.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced that it will continue to seek multifaceted partnerships with global regulatory agencies and actively promote regulatory diplomacy to do its best to support excellent domestic medical products to actively advance overseas.
