0 Rep. Jo Mi-ja, need for supplementary budget due to expansion of farmers’ safety insurance target
Eco-friendly agriculture and farmer safety insurance, support rate is low at 57.3% compared to target population

[Reporter Kim Sang-il] Representative Jo Mi-ja (Democratic Party of Korea, Namyangju 3) of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council raised the issue of the lack of support for subscribing to disaster policy insurance in Gyeonggi Province at the 375th regular session Budget and Settlement Special Committee meeting held on the 22nd.
Representative Cho said, “As typhoons, floods, and abnormal temperatures occur frequently due to climate change, the importance of disaster policy insurance is increasing, and this disaster insurance is a system to compensate for damage caused by disasters, and is a system for agriculture, fishing, and fishing.” ·It is a truly necessary system for those involved in the livestock industry.”
Representative Cho then pointed out, “The support rate in 2023 was low, but this year, the number of people who actively participated increased, and some local governments had difficulty signing up for insurance due to lack of budget.”
Lastly, Assemblyman Cho concluded his remarks by saying that an accurate estimate of the number of subscribers should be reflected in next year’s budget in consultation with the city and county, and by requesting a supplementary budget for this year’s shortfall.
In response, Director Jeong Gong-sik of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Life Sciences responded, “We will actively work on reflecting this year’s supplementary budget and next year’s budget.”
