[Reporter Kim Sang-il] Lee Seok-gyun (People Power Party, Namyangju 1), a Gyeonggi-do lawmaker, selected ‘AI Talk Service’ as an exemplary case in the review of the financial statements under the jurisdiction of the Health and Welfare Committee for the 2023 fiscal year.

According to the Gyeonggi Provincial Council on the 25th, Rep. Lee pointed out the ‘AI Senior Citizen Companion Service’ at the Budget and Settlement Special Committee held on the 24th and said, “The ‘AI Senior Companion Service’ using artificial intelligence (AI) and information and communication technology (ICT) is a great way to improve society. “We have presented a new milestone in welfare services,” he said, adding, “I hope that we will work hard to advance the project in the future.”

The ‘AI Senior Companion Service’ is a service that utilizes artificial intelligence technology to relieve the loneliness of the elderly and help them participate in society. Artificial intelligence checks on the well-being of elderly people aged 65 or older living in the province once a week at a set time.

In addition, AI saves conversations with the elderly and analyzes them in the form of deep learning, so if a call is not received more than three times or signs of crisis are detected during a call, it is sent directly to the response center.

In addition, in the review of the financial statements under the jurisdiction of the Agriculture, Government and Oceans Committee, Rep. Lee pointed out the non-use rate (41.3%) of the ‘pilot project for public feeding of infants and young children with eco-friendly and other excellent agricultural products’ and suggested a clear business plan.

Representative Seok-gyun Lee pointed out, “Even considering that it is a pilot project, the non-use rate of over 40% leaves us with the challenge of clearly predicting demand and improving the low participation rate.”

In addition, he redefined the value of Gyeonggi-do’s non-designated cultural heritage and requested continuous management. The current status of cultural heritage in the province is that about 1,200 cultural heritages, including ▲nationally designated heritage sites (334) and ▲city/provincial designated heritage sites (615), are preserved and managed, while about 6,140 non-designated cultural heritages in the province have been identified and are being systematically preserved and managed. Opinions are constantly being raised that this should be done.
