Acting Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the Ghana Rugby Football Union elections, which saw Rafatu Inusah elected as President.

Rafatu replaced Herbert Mensah, President of Africa Rugby, for the next five years after running unopposed.

She will be assisted by Vice President Emmanuel Bamfi, along with board members Prince Kwaku, Emmanuel Kalos, Abdul Saeed Samed, and SaCut Amenga—the General Secretary, who will oversee the day-to-day affairs.

Christian Percy was elected as players welfare representative with Anita Atieku taking up the role of Women’s Representative.

Newly elected Executives being sworn-in

The election, held on March 17, was attended by key stakeholders, including World Rugby’s Dave Gilbert and Robert Bwali from Rugby Africa.

“The fact that I am here along with representatives from World Rugby, Rugby Africa, various Federation Presidents, stakeholders and members of the media is a confirmation that the due process has been followed and stakeholders are keen to ensure that the right thing is done,” Yaw said at the Elective Assembly.

“Today marks a new chapter, a fresh start, and an opportunity to rebuild trust in our federation.”

The NSA boss also called on the new executives to put the past behind them and take Ghana rugby to the World stage.

“I call upon all stakeholders; clubs, players, coaches, referees, administrators, and fans to come together for the greater good of Rugby. Rugby is a sport built on solidarity, and it is through collaboration, not division, that we will succeed.’’
